Show House Family Room

Hey everyone, thanks for joining! Today I’m covering all things Family Room! This room came a LONG way from the painted paneling, carpeted floor and gaudy gold fireplace insert!

BEFORE

It’s a little hard to tell in most of these pictures, but there was paneling on every wall of this room that had to go. There was also a total of three, yes three, ceiling light fixtures. Two large flush-mounts and a fan centered in between them.

AFTER

We removed the wall to the left of the exterior door that separated the family room and breakfast nook. We skim-coated all the ceilings to achieve a nice, smooth finish. We replaced 3 light fixtures with one semi-flushmount and some can lights. Obviously, the floors got a major facelift by adding the 6.5″ Hickory engineered hardwoods (I have all the heart-eyes for these floors). The fireplace insert was removed and a simple set of gas logs were added. The fireplace brick was painted and the walls got the Requisite Gray treatment (even more heart-eyes)…

I love how this room turned out… So airy and bright with a fun light fixture and gorgeous floors. Removing the wall between the family room and the breakfast nook is really what gave it the major wow-factor. It went from a boring, closed-off space to a beautiful, open concept space perfect for hosting family and friends.

Until next time!
